Canyon 耐力越野賽給我的啟示<br> <div>Last year (2023) I participated Canyon100 as a Burn Volunteer for Asian-Chinese endurance running community. By the side of the 100miles and 100K trails, I observed runners running in hot weather over 100 degree Fahrenheit. I was inspired to learn that wearing minimum clothing could be life-changing decision in the hot weather like this. It helped me to get through my 2023 summer marathon training which I was dread of doing due to the heat but I finished it strong. <br></div><div><br></div><div>2023年（去年）我作為Burn燒燒跑團(tuán)的志愿者參加了Canyon Endurance Race耐力越野賽的志愿活動。 在100英里和100公里的賽道旁，我看到參賽者在100多華氏度的炎熱天氣中跑山。 當(dāng)我聽到有參賽者說在這樣酷熱的天氣里，只有穿得精簡涼快散熱好才得以堅持跑下去，而這個決定幫助他度過難關(guān)，最終完成了比賽，讓我很受啟發(fā)。 這個好主意幫助我完成了 2023 年夏季馬拉松的訓(xùn)練計劃和比賽，盡管當(dāng)時我完全沒有信心在熱天去完成我的首馬計劃。</div> <div>2023 Canyon Endurance Race<br></div><div>2023 年 Canyon 耐力越野賽賽道起跑點<br></div> <div>2023 Canyon Endurance Race (羅燦華）</div><div>2023年 Canyon 耐力越野賽賽道起跑點的中國精英選手羅燦華</div> <div>This year (2024), I participated again Canyon Endurance Race as a Burn volunteer for Asian-Chinese endurance running community. Many Chinese runners from US, Canada, China were here in an Airbnb house in Auburn to gather together. If last year's hot weather made the race very tough, then this year's snow, down-pouring rain and hail storms made the race much tougher. Whoever signed up for this year's Canyon Endurance Race (especially for 100miles and 100K, both started with the same very tough trail course) are heroes in my eyes.<br></div><div><br></div><div>2024年（今年），我作為Burn燒燒跑團(tuán)的志愿者再次參加Canyon 耐力越野賽。 來自美國、加拿大、中國的眾多華人跑者賽前賽后共聚于由Burn燒燒跑團(tuán)組織的奧本的Airbnb大本營。 如果說去年的炎熱天氣讓比賽變得艱難，那么今年的雪，傾盆大雨和冰雹，讓這次比賽變得困難重重。 因為壞天氣的緣故，今年勇于報名參賽的跑者，特別是100英里和100公里的參賽選手（頭一天的賽道尤其艱難），都是英雄。</div><br><div>Unfortunately, many athletes dropped out of the race due to missing the cutoff time at the check points, or Hypothermia, etc. Whoever made it through were those who had less old injuries, or maybe with a bit of good luck. In three words, this year's Canyon Endurance Race was tough, thrilling and treacherous. It yields many mission-impossible pictures and videos, plus a lots of stunning scenic views. <br></div><div><br></div><div>不幸的是，很多選手因為路滑連續(xù)摔跤錯過了檢查站的截止時間，或者由于失溫等原因而退出了比賽。完成比賽的選手或多或少是那些舊傷較少的人，或者運氣稍好一點的。 用三個詞來說，今年的 Canyon耐力越野賽是艱苦的、扣人心弦的和驚險的。 看見大家拍的圖片和視頻，真是令人難以置信到只有電影里面有，當(dāng)然還有很多雨過天晴后令人驚艷的自然風(fēng)景照。</div> <div>2024 Canyon Endurance Race, Hail storm</div><div>下冰雹了<br></div> <div>Hail on the ground</div><div>散落一地的珍珠（冰雹）<br></div> <div>Our Burn running club got an Airbnb house for some runners to stay and for many more runners to come and load carb together before the race, or take a rest after their race. I was one of the kitchen crew members. Mainly, we help with carb-loading food for endurance runners, such as steamed green-onion buns, Chinese thick pancakes, porridge, fried rice, noodles, rice balls, plus some protein like BBQ fish and lamb, pork ribs and sliced beef. Friends and families also made many food for the Airbnb house staying and sharing. We even have beer for the big gathering.</div><div><br></div><div>我們的Burn燒燒華人跑團(tuán)找到一間Airbnb的大房屋，有些華人參賽者就此住宿，還有更多參賽者在此一起賽前加碳和/或賽后休息。 我是廚房志愿者之一，大家齊心協(xié)力主要是為耐力賽參賽者烹飪賽前加碳食品，如花卷、大餅、粥、炒飯、面條，飯團(tuán)，和一些賽后需要的蛋白質(zhì)，如烤魚、烤羊肉，烤排骨、醬牛肉，有親友們也事先做好一些食物帶到Airbnb大房子分享，當(dāng)然還有啤酒。</div> <div>Yummy!</div><div>好香！<br></div> <div>Aid Station angels, daytime and the cold, dark & sleepless night time</div><div>補(bǔ)給站的天使們，白天和黑夜，熬夜，冷<br></div> <div>Left: Just roadside Good Samaritan aid station<br></div><div>左：素不相識的路人補(bǔ)給站<br></div>Middle: Burn running club aid station<br><div>中：Burn燒燒跑團(tuán)補(bǔ)給站<br></div><div>Right: Official aid station</div><div>右：官方補(bǔ)給站<br></div> <div>Burn aid station night stand</div><div>Burn燒燒跑團(tuán)午夜補(bǔ)給站，有美教主站臺，自備熱粥，茶葉蛋，肉松，榨菜，etc<br></div> <div>Tough, thrilling, treacherous course;<br></div><div>艱苦的、扣人心弦的和驚險的賽道;</div><div>Wet, slippery, muddy trails.</div><div>濕的， 滑的，泥濘的山道。<br></div> <div>The wet ground became very slippery, and it was very hard on Amy's legs but she, Keep Calm and Carry On.</div><div>濕透的地面非?；?，Amy的腿老打滑，摔跤無數(shù)次，皮都破了，但她處之泰然。<br></div> <div>There was no way to go around this ditch. Runners got very very cold after running through it.</div><div>繞不過這條溝，只有趟過去，出了水溝，參賽者幾乎快失溫了。<br></div> <div>Despite all the adversities, runners prevailed somehow. Some of them finished the course. Some of them even got into the top three of their categories in their age groups. Many of our Chinese athletes stayed in the Airbnb house got qualification to 2025 UTMB and/or CCC. Bravo! <br></div><div><br></div><div>盡管面臨所有這些逆境，華人參賽者們還是最終克服了艱難。 他們中的一些人完成了比賽，還有一些人甚至進(jìn)了年齡組的前三名，住宿Burn燒燒跑團(tuán)大本營的參賽選手就有好幾位得到了2025年的UTMB直通或CCC直通。棒棒噠！</div><br><div>They just love it, after this weekend's race, someone already signed up for 2025's Canyon Endurance Race. Revenge? True love?
